What's an anagram, exactly?

An anagram is a rearrangement of all the letters of a word into another word. LISTENSILENT. EARTHHEART. The classic puzzle game definition is strict: same letters, no leftovers.

In word games like Scrabble, you usually want the looser version: every word you can build from some subset of your letters. The tool above does both. Type your letters and you'll see exact anagrams (same length as your input) at the top, with shorter sub-anagrams below.

Strategy: when anagrams matter most

The anagram lookup is most valuable when you're stuck on a 7-letter rack and looking for a bingo. Drop all 7 letters in, set Exact length to 7, and the tool returns just the bingos. Most racks have at least one — practice spotting them and your average score climbs fast.
